Born in Northampton in 1965, Jo currently fronts a 10AM weekdays show on Radio 1, which she has presented since February 2001.

Her first taste of  radio work  was presenting a youth show on  BBC Radio 4. She later produced C4's The Word, giving airtime to Nirvana and Rage Against The Machine, and currently presents the 'Jo Whiley Show' on the same channel.

Jo joined Radio 1's Evening Session in the Spring of 1993, becoming permanent co-presenter with Steve Lamacq in September. She took over the weekday lunchtime slot in February 1997 and moved to her current mid-morning show in February 2001, where her guests have included Coldplay, Dido, Justin Timberlake and Oasis.

She has regularly presented the annual Sound City live music festival, Campus events and other live music by Radio 1.

She enjoys bands from Eminem to Nirvana to Heaven 17 and wears Doctor Marten shoes.
