1960s

Flower power in style, the logo with which Radio 1 launched was regularly spotted in the Radio Times.

Early 1970's

Used during the early part of the 1970's with BBC logo. Variations were used for the other 3 networks.

Mid 1970's

The launch of the Roadshow in 1973 called upon the designers to provide a less conservative - looking logo.

1975 - 1988

First seen 1975 originally in red with white stripes, this little logo is the well remembered.

1978

A slight variation! To reflect the wavelength changes. The text was removed later when frequencies were quoted.

1988

Still going..but a  skewed version for the new FM transmissions.

1990

A more casual logo with a hand-written ONE provides a modern

contemporary feel.

1994 and the website version expanded!

1998

Play and rewind symbols; perhaps a sign of the new digital age

2001
