Kevin Greening R1 Saturday Shows

with Eric the Gardener/ Gripper

1994/1995

What I'd like to get hold of are a few Kevin Greening Radio 1 shows, where on Saturday mornings he would do a bit where he told a story and had a dog called Gripper. its not that long ago when he did those shows but they were funny- half way through the story Gripper would bark; he would then let Gripper out and play a record...

If you could put out a wanted for the Eric & Gripper stories from Kevin Greening shows that would be great

Thanks Simon

Radio 1 memorabilia

Hi, I am a collector of Radio One Merchandise, Jingles and Recordings between the dates of 1967 and 1992 and was wondering if there is anybody out there who is able to help me with my collection, e.g. by copying, selling, or whatever. I am willing to accept cd's and minidiscs. I am especially looking for the tune for Our Tune and Pick Of The Pops that was used in the late 1980's, and early 1990's. The Pick of the Pops Theme is still in use on Radio 2 with Dale Winton. I am looking for everything that is available - complete Jam and Pams CD's especially. I am also looking for complete Top 40 shows between 1973 and 1992. I have a few jingles available for copying - email me for details. Merchandise I am looking for is - radio 1 T-shirts, pens, key-rings, mugs, stickers - I will consider anything. I noticed on another message on the noticeboard that there is somebody looking for 2 Radio 1 films that were made in the 1970's - I am also interested in obtaining copies of these.

Thank you Philip

Simon Bates'Around the World Challenge Theme Tune

I am desperately looking for the theme which accompanied Simon Bates' Around The World Challenge in 1989. It was similar to Around The World in 80 days and Simon Bates broadcasted a 30 minute daily radio show from a destination.

It was sponsored by Allied Dunbar and about 20 seconds was used until Simon did a voice over at the start, introducing whereabouts in the world he is. The ending was used for about one minute, again Simon did a voice over before handing over to the summer roadshow.

I have been looking for this tune since then and have had no clues on where to look. I would be grateful if you could tell me if the theme was available, and Maybe where I could obtain it, what the theme was called and who composed it.

Name of early morning R1 magazine programme

Can you recall in the early 80's, on Saturday mornings on Radio 1 there was a kind of youth magazine programme, on at 07.00 for an hour In fact I think it was the first show of the day, before Tony Blackburn. It covered issues affecting young people - can you remember what it was called I just remember waking up, turning the radio on, waiting for the warm up jingles to finish and then this programme coming on.

Radio 1 Winning Song

In the 70s Radio One ran a competition for a listener to write a song to mark the change of frequency (was it 247 or  281 ). Do you have the song or know the title  I remember a fragment of it; "well come on listen 247". I should guess it was about 1972-1976 . Its a great web site, incidentally. Just the sort of thing the internet does well.

Clip of Paul Burnett telephoning DLT show

There's a great clip I used to have on an old tape, but alas it went missing years ago, it was from a D.L.T. show and he was doing one of his quizzes. Paul Burnett phoned up and pretended to be a contestant, he pretended to be a woman from Chorley and started by saying " Am I on........now, can you hear me.........now" he then proceeded to tell DLT off for always making fun of that lovely chap Paul Burnett. Thanks for your time, Dave.

Comedy Shows

I'm a longtime collector of Radio 1 comedy shows, and over the years have managed to amass just about every comedy show broadcast on the station that's still knocking about in some format. However, there are some nagging gaps in the collection which I've been attempting to plug for some years now, namely:

Christmas At Rawlinson End Part One (22/12/1975)The Steve Nage Show (1988 - Victor Lewis-Smith doing a spoof DJ character) Hey Rrrrradio! - any episodes (1988-89) The Mary Whitehouse Experience untransmitted pilot (1989) The Mary Whitehouse Experience: Glasgow Radio Festival Special (05/07/1990) Dave And Rob's Comedy Phone-In (12/07/1990) The Chris Morris Christmas Show (25/12/1990)

Can you help with any of the above, or at least point me in the right direction

Details of  early morning Light Programme show

1964-1965

I left the U.K. IN 1967, I was just thinking about the old Light programme which I used to enjoy. Trying to remember the early morning sign on show around 5 or 5.30 am. and who was the presenter. I do recall they used to alternate with different personnel but I seem to recall the name David Symonds as a very funny presenter. This would probably be 1964/5. I think the sign on music was a tune call "Looking For Love" Can you help my poor old memory!!

Radio Jingles adapted from a

Hit Record

I am particularly interested in jingles which  groups recorded as parodies to their hits at the time.

The jingles in question, as far as I know, are not on any CD; I remember them being aired around  '73 or '74 and they were also popular with commercial stations. Radio Clyde in Glasgow used to have some, as did Radio 1. E.g. The Hollies "The Air that I Breathe " and Pilot "January" they were only in circulation for about 6 months and were recorded the same as the hit single except for words to describe the station. The jocks used to play them either before or after the bands track. You have a similar one on your site with The Who and "My Generation".

I am grateful to you for looking into this for me and perhaps we will get a result, I am sure you will enjoy them as well. Maybe someone out there has recorded some, and doesn't mind sharing. Thank you for your help and I hope to hear from you soon all the best.

Radio Luxembourg

Hello, Our association filmreakter a.s.b.l. is going to realise this summer a documentary film about the legend : “208 The story of radio Luxembourg” Filmreakter is a luxemburgish group who wants to make documentary and fiction films. We are all students who want to study film. I, 18, am a foundation member of this group, and also director of this project. The project “208 The Story of Radio Luxembourg” will be a documentary film who wants to tell the story of this famous radio, with a lot of interviews, the memory of listeners, and new images. When I did the first research about 208 I found this on an English webpage: “I meant to add that for many British people of my generation Luxembourg is identified with radio 208 which broadcast pop music long before our national radio station did so. Teenagers would tune in and listen every night. So you are an important part of our childhood and a source of happy memories.” It was one of the main reasons why I want to do this movie. An other reason is that nobody in Luxembourg know this radio. Even my parents did not know what 208 will mean. So I found out that in foreign countries Luxembourg is identified with radio 208 and that in Luxembourg nobody has ever heard about this radio. That’s why I want to do this film.

That’s also the reason why I’m writing you. I'm searching for Email addresses of the old 208 jocks ! You May have some of them. I have others so we May be can change. Thanks a lot ! (when you cannot give me the email address but pass a message to them , please tell me !!!

Here is a list of the people I'm searching for :
