Tue 12/11/2002 16:33 | Philip Oakley oakley_philip(at) msn.com | Radio 1 memorabilia | Hi, I am a collector of Radio One Merchandise, Jingles and Recordings between the dates of 1967 and 1992 and was wondering if there is anybody out there who is able to help me with my collection, e.g. by copying, selling, or whatever. I am willing to accept cd's and minidiscs. I am especially looking for the tune for Our Tune and Pick Of The Pops that was used in the late 1980's, and early 1990's. The Pick of the Pops Theme is still in use on Radio 2 with Dale Winton. I am looking for everything that is available - complete Jam and Pams CD's especially. I am also looking for complete Top 40 shows between 1973 and 1992. I have a few jingles available for copying - email me for details. Merchandise I am looking for is - radio 1 T-shirts, pens, key-rings, mugs, stickers - I will consider anything. I noticed on another message on the noticeboard that there is somebody looking for 2 Radio 1 films that were made in the 1970's - I am also interested in obtaining copies of these. Thank you Philip |

Sunday, 20/10/2002 1:27 PM | Steve Knight steve.knight0 (at)talk21.com | Simon Bates'Around the World Challenge Theme Tune | I am desperately looking for the theme which accompanied Simon Bates' Around The World Challenge in 1989. It was similar to Around The World in 80 days and Simon Bates broadcasted a 30 minute daily radio show from a destination. It was sponsored by Allied Dunbar and about 20 seconds was used until Simon did a voice over at the start, introducing whereabouts in the world he is. The ending was used for about one minute, again Simon did a voice over before handing over to the summer roadshow. I have been looking for this tune since then and have had no clues on where to look. I would be grateful if you could tell me if the theme was available, and Maybe where I could obtain it, what the theme was called and who composed it. |

Wed 05/06/2002 17:47 | Andrew Clarke paisleyfox(at) hotmail.com | Radio Jingles adapted from a Hit Record | I am particularly interested in jingles which groups recorded as parodies to their hits at the time. The jingles in question, as far as I know, are not on any CD; I remember them being aired around '73 or '74 and they were also popular with commercial stations. Radio Clyde in Glasgow used to have some, as did Radio 1. E.g. The Hollies "The Air that I Breathe " and Pilot "January" they were only in circulation for about 6 months and were recorded the same as the hit single except for words to describe the station. The jocks used to play them either before or after the bands track. You have a similar one on your site with The Who and "My Generation". I am grateful to you for looking into this for me and perhaps we will get a result, I am sure you will enjoy them as well. Maybe someone out there has recorded some, and doesn't mind sharing. Thank you for your help and I hope to hear from you soon all the best. Andy Clarke |

Thu 18/04/2002 19:10 Bernard M bmovies(at) gmx.net 208 Radio Luxembourg | Hello, Our association filmreakter a.s.b.l. is going to realise this summer a documentary film about the legend : “208 The story of radio Luxembourg” Filmreakter is a luxemburgish group who wants to make documentary and fiction films. We are all students who want to study film. I, 18, am a foundation member of this group, and also director of this project. The project “208 The Story of Radio Luxembourg” will be a documentary film who wants to tell the story of this famous radio, with a lot of interviews, the memory of listeners, and new images. When I did the first research about 208 I found this on an English webpage: “I meant to add that for many British people of my generation Luxembourg is identified with radio 208 which broadcast pop music long before our national radio station did so. Teenagers would tune in and listen every night. So you are an important part of our childhood and a source of happy memories.” It was one of the main reasons why I want to do this movie. An other reason is that nobody in Luxembourg know this radio. Even my parents did not know what 208 will mean. So I found out that in foreign countries Luxembourg is identified with radio 208 and that in Luxembourg nobody has ever heard about this radio. That’s why I want to do this film. That’s also the reason why I’m writing you. I'm searching for Email addresses of the old 208 jocks ! You May have some of them. I have others so we May be can change. Thanks a lot !
