Xmas Top 5's

Hi

I'm looking for the Xmas Top 5's for 89, 90 & 91. I used to have the prog intro, the top 5 songs with the countdown for every year from 87 on cassette, but unfortunately one of my tapes mangled and could not be rescued!

I'm also interested in any other Xmas Top 5's for before 87, or charts of the year from before 1992.

If there's anybody out there who can help, please e-mail me.
Cheers

Paul

A Question of Jingles

Hi

I have a question to ask. Perhaps you might know the answer

Concerning this "Radio 1 On The Road" Jingle, which is  at http://www.radiorewind.co.uk/sounds/

Radio_1_on_road_high.mp3, I have several recordings of jingles that are clearly based on the same underlying track, but are sung with the names of DJs etc. I recorded these from BFBS Radio circa 1979. My question is, does the underlying track have a particular name that you know of Clearly it's something where, in those days, you could have contacted PAMS or whoever and said "I would like jingle XYZ re-sung with the name of this DJ", but what was the jingle known as

Hope you know, or know someone who knows!

Thanks,
Paul

Friday Rock Show playlists 1982

I am looking for playlists for the Friday Rock Show from May and June
1982, to find a specific track that was played on one show then.

About all I can remember is that the track included the phrases (they sounded like these) 'love is a lie' and 'light me up'. Anyway, playlists from then would be helpful at least and then I can find all the possible tracks from then.

Thanks, Daniel.

Recording of 1975 show with Top 10 competition winner

Hi, my wife won a Top Ten record competition on the radio in 1975 and she would like to hear the recording that was read out on the radio at the time.

What I can gather is that my wife, then Jannette Carlon, sent the answer in, her card was picked out and her name given out as the winner.  All I know is that the winner received a copy of the top ten records at the time;  Queen was at No.1 which would have made it between Nov 1975 - Dec 1975 and she thought it was the Dave Lee Travis Show.

One of the shows must have given away the top ten records, so I can only home in on the DLT Show or Maybe the Top 40

I have contacted Radio One already and they cannot help. If you can help, please  let me know asap;

Thanks, Paul.

Slade Radio 1 jingle

Hi guys

does anyone have an MP3 of a Christmas jingle/song spoof that R1 must have run in the early 70s It was Slade re-singing Merry Xmas everybody. It was identical to the song except for the end of the chorus. This version went "Here's to the future now on national Radio One".

I heard it when I was there in the early 90's in a medley and I'd love to hear it again. I worked with Noddy Holder at Key soon after and even he didn't have a copy.

Thanks, Gary

Date of broadcast - History of Pop Radio

Hello,

I am looking for information about a documentary that was aired on Radio 1 about 79/80ish I think.  The documentary was called the History of Pop Radio and was narrated by Noel Edmonds.  It was broadcast in six 45 minute parts, just before Paul Gambaccini.  I came across the tapes I made recently and was wondering whether anyone could tell me exactly when the documentary was broadcast.

Many thanks in advance.

Pirates/

247 Radio 1

Summer Festival

I have recently launched an open-air cinema (full 35mm projected film format) on the Norfolk Coast and, if there is sufficient interest, would love to hold a 'Pirates/247 Radio One Festival' over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

It would, hopefully, run through from the Friday to Sunday and feature live bands, recorded music of the period and films such as Woodstock and the likes; obviously punctuated from time-to-time with appropriate jingles and idents. I'd like to think that there would be merchandising and 'swaps' and, if I could afford it or purloin them, a radio personality or two

Whether or not it takes place all depends on the response from you good people and I estimate the cost for the whole event would be in the region of Ł25 per head. It would be necessary to take the form of "invitation only" and no 'walk-in' so as not to get wrong with the powers that be. Max gate approx 600. I'm sure a tent site will be available for campers. Anyone interested please contact  mail(at)www.movingpictureshow.co.uk  Cheers Mick P

Radio One Rock Shows 1981 - 1994

Hello,
Over the years I have accumulated literally dozens of BBC Radio One Rock Shows, all recorded on cassettes from FM stereo broadcasts.
These consist of Tommy Vance shows from 1981 to 1988 featuring many well-known (and not so well-known) NWOBHM bands.
I also have Alan Freeman shows from 1991 to 1994.
I would be very interested in trading copies of the above for recordings of Alan Freeman Saturday shows from the 1970s and Tommy Vance shows from the early 1980s.
I am particularly interested if anyone out there can shed any light on an instrumental prog rock band called Peaches (I think) who did a session for Alan Freeman around 1974.

Look forward to hearing from you!

Loads of Tony Butler snoops from XTRAam, some great launch mornings from various stations too.

I really don't want to keep them forever - any offers   Based in Southampton.

Song  used on Alan Freemans Saturday Rock Show

I'm looking for some info on a song /jingle used on Fluff's Saturday Show in the early 70's (1972 / 73 )

I remember it sounded like an "out of tune Lou Reed" type voice, if that's possible! The only line I can remember was something like "Ohh, I just don't seem to make...........e it", and this line was used as a snippet in later shows.

Any info would be appreciated, as this song has "haunted" me for over 30 years!

Theme Tune Titles BBC Radio

How nice it would be to hear the opening shriek on the flute of that seasonal prog "Swing into Summer" once introduced by Simon Dee. Perhaps you know the title of the tune

The end theme to Ray Moore's Early Show used up to the start of Wogan c.1980. - Perhaps it was Eye Catcher

David Symonds used a talkover theme, not exclusively, at the time to which he added the phrase you mention - "Corporation Station". The music was also used to introduce a short-lived magazine type programme on BBCtv, "Let me tell you". But what could it be

I would be pleased to hear from you.

Good wishes Bob

70's Jingle

Hi there;

In the 70's (and I am sure it was on Radio 1) there was a jingle/intro (for want of a better phrase) used, that went "Morning, morning greaser.........cor ain't I bright" I would ultimately love a copy of this if anyone has it, but for now jogging the memory as to who's show etc this was used for would suffice

Many thanks

Title & Artist

of BBC Top 40 beds

Hi, I have a recording of Tony Blackburn presenting the Top 40 in September 1981. I'm trying to find out what the countdown music bed is and who it is by.

It is similar to 'Theme from Firepower'  but a bit slower and not quite as powerful. Could it have been a JAM composed piece Can anyone help.

Also did Tommy Vance use the same bed when he presented it, or was it changed If it was can anyone tell me what that was called.

Many thanks.

Matt

Noel Edmonds last Breakfast Show 1978

Does anybody have a recording of Noel Edmonds last weekend breakfast show in 1978 Anything featuring Noel would be welcome.

I'm also just starting my collection of top 20/40 Radio 1 shows from the mid 70's to the mid 80's. I was wondering if anybody has good copies that they are willing to trade/sell.

I don't have much but I do have a small list of recordings for anyone who's interested.

Early John Peel theme

I am pretty sure the Frank Zappa song ‘peaches en regalia‘ was used on the John Peel shows in the late sixties/early seventies. Can anyone confirm this and tell me when it was used
