The programme used to be broadcast late on Sunday evenings. It was called “Sounds Interesting” and was hosted by Derek Jewell who was also a jazz critic with one of the Sunday papers at the time. I think this show was broadcast between 1972 and 1979 and was one of Auntie Beeb’s few nods in the direction of contemporary music on Radio 3. There was a small amount of content in common with the more popular offerings of Radios 1 and 2 at the time although it would probably have regarded itself as featuring “serious” music. It was a little like a radio version of “The Old Grey Whistle Test” but with more jazz/rock content. If anyone knows the details I’d be grateful to have them. Alternatively if they know of other sites/resources that may help please let me know. Thanks in anticipation.
